My laptop is at least 7 years old and is definitely not equipped for virtual education. I've been using it since distance learning started, but it is slow and unable to compete with the new programs necessary to effectively teach. This has affected my ability to efficiently serve my students. An updated laptop will give me the opportunity to teach my students without disruptions due to slow technology! I'll be able to conduct our synchronous and asynchronous instruction and upload activities to offer my students more engaging lessons in this virtual setting. Having a touchscreen will help even more because I'd be able to address students' immediate needs and provide real-time examples for their specific questions. A new laptop would actually impact students beyond my classroom. We have weekly content meetings in which I collaborate with the other grade level teachers in my school, to brainstorm ideas to help all students in all content areas. It would also help me to collaborate with them more efficiently without the troublesome lag issues that I am currently encountering.
