My name is Pat and I am a middle school librarian. Good literature in middle school is so important in captivating life-long readers. It is vital to offer titles to students that capture their attention right away to keep them engaged. Typically they do not have or do not take the time to wait for the plot to thicken. Therefore they move on and miss out on what could possibly be the book that resonates and stays with them for the rest of their lives. Middle school students are so much in flux that it makes it difficult to pinpoint what kind of book will resonate with them. Offerings need to be relevant, interesting, and books that will enable our students to become flexible, resilient readers who read for pleasure as well as for academic purposes. Thank you for reading this and for your support in helping my efforts to grow life long readers.
