Can you imagine doing your job without basic supplies – a pencil, pen, or paper? In “normal” times, students and parents would be doing their Back to School shopping but this year will be very different. Most, if not all of my students, will find it difficult to purchase any supplies! My project consists of providing students with the basic daily supplies needed in the classroom to complete a normal days work: pencil case/bag, pencils, crayons, glue sticks, scissors, color pencils, and highlighters. Normally, students would share in the “community” supply of materials, however schools and districts must now implement policies that allow for social distancing within the classroom. In our reopening plan, schools have indicated students should avoid or limit sharing objects and equipment. Our school will begin the year with a hybrid teaching and learning model with two alternating cohorts A and B: one week in the classroom and one week learning virtual-remotely at home. Students will need to carry school supplies home each week so they have the necessary materials to work with and to create an environment, at home, where they can continue to learn.
