Researchers agree that being active yields both healthier bodies and healthier minds. Science proves that the increased blood flow produced by exercise stimulates the brain and boosts mental performance. Statistics show that kids exercise too little and watch screens too much. Learning online worsens this problem. This school year will be a daunting challenge. Since we’re 100% online until February 2021, we will be sitting and looking at screens a lot! But, getting fitness trackers will help my students “Move it, Move it 2 Learn it, Learn it!” Your help changes everything! Assuming responsibility for their fitness tracker will be motivating and help my students see how movement improves their learning. Since “on time” attendance is expected, the alarm feature on the tracker will allow my students to be self-reliant and responsible for their punctuality. Practicing this real world skill will help them for life! The fitness tracker opens up endless active and academic possibilities! Dynamic brain breaks will be fun, measurable and educational. The tracker will allow students to record, track and use their own data in: Math – calculating mean, median, range and mode; identifying odd, even, prime and composite numbers… Science – differentiating between qualitative (how I feel) and quantitative data (how many hours I slept)… Social emotional learning – by analyzing their data, students be more self-aware and feel more in control… Written and oral communication – journaling about or discussing why using the fitness tracker is motivating… Your investment in fitness trackers will help my students remain active, engaged, help them take control and make their learning more personal and meaningful during online school.
