We are a K-6 school in a rural area of Virginia surrounded my military bases. We have three elementary schools in the town where we live. In our school we have about 900 students. My students come from a variety of family backgrounds. Our school is a Title I school, meaning many of our students come from a low socioeconomic status (about 30% qualify for free and reduced lunch). We have a high military family presence, which welcomes a lot of turnover in student population. Many families come to our district after they retire from the military as well as to settle down and raise their family in a quiet and small town.
