Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham signed multiple bills in 2020 to expand New Mexico's capacity for solar energy, creating new economic opportunities for the citizens of this rural and indigenous state. Students will conceptualize renewable energy sources, and perform power calculations, and analyze energy consumption. New Mexico has one of the highest renewable energy potential in the world. The DIY educational solar car kit will supplement abstract conceptual learning in Physics with a hands-on project that prepares young New Mexicans for jobs in an expanding solar industry in a sunny state.
