Art is many things, but for my kids it is mostly about being able to experiment, discover, and enjoy the process of creating. I want to give students access to a variety of tools and materials they can't get at home. The projects this year need to be exciting, finished in one 40 minute class period, and easy to use for the youngins. My hope is that these quick projects will help keep them open to different possibilities and build meaningful connections to the subjects they struggle the most with like writing and math. We will be using yarn, embroidery string, drawing tools, scissors, origami paper, twisteez wire, pipe cleaners, cellophane, paints, clay, shoelaces, tie-dye, stamps, popsicle sticks, glue, oil pastels, alcohol ink, watercolor paper, gemstones, paper plates, paper bags, plastic cups, and more. I really want to make this a great year in art for the kiddos especially after being stuck at home. I want to get them curious about the world, unafraid to make mistakes while learning from them and break them out of their shells to become life-long learners.
