Modeling activities and think-aloud activities where students follow along as I annotate and analyze stories and other texts are crucially important for rigorous and meaningful English language arts class. At school, I would be able to access a document camera and project the text on the board so students could see what I'm doing / how I'm actively engaging with the story. I will be teaching remotely for the foreseeable future, so it is very important that I have a document camera at home in order to replicate these crucial activities for my students. With a document camera, I will be able to provide my students both live and recorded think-aloud activities where I model how to annotate and analyze a text, enhancing the experiences of my students learning from home.
