Every child will encounter a time when they feel BIG emotions, and in my class my goal is to teach students strategies on how to help control their emotions. Without strategies for self-regulation, children's emotions can continue to build up, and like a volcano can cause an eruption! "When little people by big emotions, it is our job to share our calm, not join their chaos" Providing children with different strategies and tools for self-regulation teaches them how to control their emotions. The items I have selected will be used in the teaching of these different strategies. The calm down puppy and worry stones are good tools to help us when our emotions are getting big. The books that I have selected, along with the Mindful Kids Cards, and the Moody Monsters are things that will help in teaching children how to identify their big emotions, and strategies they can use to control their big emotions.
