Right now, when students walk into my classroom they are faced with the same uniform choice of seating every single day. There’s no variety or excitement, which are two things my students crave and respond best to! We all learn and retain more information effectively when we are active, and let’s face it, most children are wiggle worms who love to move! Sitting in hard, uncomfortable chairs is not conducive to the learning that best suits my students. One way to facilitate this movement, while sitting in a classroom, is through flexible seating. Flexible seating includes active seating options which are specifically designed to move with a student’s natural movement. Wobble stools and cushions give students the sensory input to help them focus and process information.
