Upon our return, scholars will be able to enter our classroom and find a welcoming environment. During independent reading time, use of the reading space will serve as a relaxing area, encouraging scholars to dive deeply into a book. In addition this space will be used for scholars who struggle with behavior issues. They will be able to use the reading space as a cool down area to collect their thoughts and gather their emotions. This serves as a redirection by dismantling the school to prison pipeline. It also fosters a loving and inclusive environment that builds trust and communication between the educator and scholar. The use of this area will transform how scholars see and feel about reading.
