These books will help my students feel represented in our classroom. Many of our books are old and feature white characters. Adding diversity to our library will ensure that my students feel represented and help them gain an interest in reading. My students come from many different backgrounds and have many different cultures. Being able to see themselves represented in a book would be meaningful. All of my students would also be able to learn about other races and cultures. In the past, new books have been a key to getting students interested in reading.
