Our approach this year is focused on how dance is a part of our lives and can be used to aid our mental, physical, and emotional health. With COVID19 changing the face of every facet of our lives, the dance field has suffered the blow of virtual reality. The electric human connection we relish in the classroom and on stage must be reborn in the virtual realm. This project helps us achieve just that. Our video equipment, especially laptop interface, does not allow us to truly capture the human form in dance as we need it to. With this camera, anatomy book and portable barre, we will be able to show in detail the depth of emotion, anatomical technique, and environmental interaction as well as stream it live during class! We will also be able to have even more detailed pre-recorded lessons and home visits. In our efforts to make class as interactive as possible, we have planned pre recorded lessons, gathered backdrops so we can change our environments, and have the ability to go on location and share how dance can take place wherever they go. In a time where our students have embraced a sedentary life, it is time we rev things up and help supercharge our students through personal creativity and expression. It is truly amazing what technology can do!
