One of my favorite online teaching and learning resources is Scholastic's StoryWorks digital magazines. Unfortunately, this year, our school district’s budget for curriculum materials is non-existent. It’s going to purchase PPE and other COVID-19 mitigation measures instead. Scholastic StoryWorks 3 is a monthly digital magazine that includes a variety of genre, including fiction, non-fiction, poetry, and plays geared towards 3rd grade. Each monthly issue focuses on different reading and writing standards, and provides practice for students to hone their reading comprehension, analytical thinking, vocabulary, and writing skills. This subscription is for the 3rd grade level. StoryWorks knows that not everyone reads at the same level so the digital subscription provides the same story at different levels so I can easily differentiate for individual needs. My students find the reading selections engaging, and they love the special features, such as background videos, vocabulary slideshows, and read-aloud capability. Please help me provide this invaluable resource to my students this year.
