These books will continue to enhance the print-rich and inclusive classroom that I strive to create. All of the books on this list have been chosen because they feature characters that reflect the diversity in my classroom and are culturally responsive stories. Each book tells an amazing story that will be used as a mentor/teaching book to develop reading skills and for students to enjoy in our read aloud book display. These books are important because students will be able to choose books that reflect and celebrate their culture and validate their experiences. We may be virtual but we are all made of stories. I know my students will be able to connect with and love the titles on this list, even during remote reading lessons and read-alouds.
