Through distance learning, many of our students struggle to remain focused while participating in visual and auditory instruction. These toys will be essential to help students remain focused while engaging in virtual lessons as they help stimulate the "novelty seeking" brain. "Research on fidgets shows that if movement can be directed, it can enhance learning. Test scores improve and students report they can focus better on what is going on in the classroom with a fidget in their hands." These toys will be distributed in a drive-by supply drive so that students can keep at home near their digital devices. Teachers will share ways and ideas for how to best use these toys to support engagement and participation. I know that these toys will be beneficial given the numerous challenges teachers have shared with virtual learning.
