Students can make connections to their world through literature. . We have access to some books, but in many cases they're old and damaged. Reading is so important, not only for academics, but for personal growth. "Practicing the reading process as a class only creates better independent readers and thinkers." We have already read many short stories this year, but my students would love to read a novel! I am requesting a class set of books to help keep students engaged. My goal is to help my students develop a love for reading in 6th grade, so they will read more, increasing their vocabulary and knowledge. I am purchasing a class set of novels so every child can have a book in his/her hand to read, discuss, and enjoy.
