During our Me on the Map study and throughout the year, students will be able to see themselves and others as important members of the community. Each child will be able to make several dolls for use as we work virtually this year. Reading My Big World magazine will help broaden horizons and improve our literacy skills. The fine motor activities of creating these dolls will give way to using them as puppets during Story Time and use for imaginative play. Children will create a small world map to help them ponder all of the marvelous places on earth. Each month, a teacher drive-by home delivery will provide each child with a copy of My World Scholastic Magazine. Using this tool we will learn about the world and practice our book awareness and pre-reading skills such as tracking print and hunting for letters and sight words on the page. (Extra copies will be shared with other preschool classrooms and will be put to good use).
