Hello! I wish to teach Just Mercy by Bryan Stevenson. One assignment students will complete aligns with the CollegeBoard's curriculum expectations: CED REO 6. Develop a line of reasoning and commentary that explains it throughout an argument. 1. The class will divide into two groups for this work. 2. One side will prepare an argument that books such as Just Mercy should be banned in prisons. 3. The other group will prepare an argument that no books should be banned in prisons. 4. The group will submit the paper for a group grade. I would like to lead a guided reading of this book in class. In a perfect world, every student I teach would read this book! We will use it to cultivate various skills found within our course requirements. In the time of Black Lives Matter and the time we are living in, it is important to read books that are timely, relevant, and spark academic discourse.
