Each item I chose will create a calming effect in the midst of uncertain times. Most of the students I counsel see school as a refuge from the chaos. As I prepare for students to come back on campus, these items will create a calming, safe space where students feel comfortable being able to express themselves. The lighting, chairs, music being played will all play a part in creating an environment conducive to social-emotional learning. With your help, my students will leave sessions equipped with skills to build resiliency, communicate more effectively, and process their traumas.
