Parents are overwhelmed by having to school their children at home and I DO NOT want my students to only do paper work/packets because their parents lack resources to teach them using a hands on approach. I want the parents involvement activities with their children to be positive for both. I want to provide them with materials that they can use to make learning a family event, enjoyable and effective. I want to have the families interact in the area of science by raising silk worms and learning about them and by using the "bug viewers" to go on nature walks and gather bugs to view! Most of my students are in kindergarten/first grade or functioning at that level. Therefore, I also chose manipulatives that can be used to teach reading! I will be interacting with the students and parents via Zoom meetings. I look forward presenting them with amazing lessons and providing them with the tools necessary to ensure my students become life long learners and are able to persevere and flourish educationally during distance learning!
