Students want to feel included while they are at school, that is why I am requesting the larger circle time carpet for my students to be able to sit at as a group. It is also my vision to provide flexible seating so students have a choice in where they can sit and get comfortable as they begin school. It has been my experience that students are more motivated to learn when they have a choice and feel comfortable, especially young children. In my classroom, they do not have many options besides sitting at a desk, or on the floor. I believe they will get more excited about learning when they can have a choice to choose a wobble chair or to grab a cushion and find their favorite spot in the room with their clipboard. When students have options and choices in where they sit, they are naturally more engaged than when they are just sitting at a desk in a chair. This flexible seating will make choosing a seat to learn in more engaging and fun! The seating I have selected will ultimately give my students more options to meet their needs to move about and be comfortable as they begin their education in learning. The carpet will allow all my students to be a part of circle time. The wobble chairs will give students an option at the desk rather than just a traditional chair to sit in. These are especially helpful for my little ones that need to get their wiggles out. The comfy cushion seats will be another option for kids to sit at while reading, learning on the computer, or anywhere in the room. I believe in choice and I have seen by giving students choices they are more eager to learn.
