Learning to play an instrument is an essential part of a strong music/ Performing Arts program. Students will be introduced (in-person within a hybrid plan of in-class and virtual teaching combined) to the piano keyboard and be able to play simple melodies while learning to read musical notation on the staff. Exact details of how music class will be occurring during in-school classes remains to be seen, however, I expect that I will be traveling to individual classrooms throughout our building, on a cart, and these roll-away keyboards can be easily sanitized for use with multiple classes and grade levels. In addition, these keyboards will replace the current recorder curriculum and will remain a major part of our program until singing and recorders can resume safely. With my strong keyboard background, it is my hope that my students will enjoy this hands-on experience and want to continue to play the piano for years to come.
