We are beginning a unit on conservation with a focus on recycling. Students will research the effects of both pollution and recycling. Students will get into groups and create a pamphlet to pass out and educate those in our community on the positive effects of recycling. Students will also create posters to post around the school about a new recycling program that we will be creating. The recycle bins will be placed at strategic places around campus, underneath these student made posters, encouraging everyone to recycle their used cans and bottles. Every week, a core group of students will go around campus and collect these bins to take after school to recycle. The money from this project will go to student council to help fund holiday parties and hopefully a school dance later in the year (pandemic pending). Students will be able to practice their research and teamwork skills as they work together to create these pamphlets. They will also practice being an advocate for their school and community.
