At our school all 5th and 6th grade students can choose to be in either Band or Choir. This is normally an exciting time for the students because they get to sing with their friends or choose an band instrument to play for the first time. This year, however, we are starting online only. Students will not be able to get a school instrument to play until we return to face to face instruction. We would like to purchase Recorders for each student to use at home during online learning. This way everyone can learn the fundamentals of music and apply it to an instrument. The teachers can guide them through music lessons online and the students will be able to play with their own Recorder at home. When we return to face to face instruction they will be able to transfer that knowledge to Band or Choir, plus they can still keep learning the Recorder throughout the school year and beyond.
