Music education commonly falls through the cracks in many schools and educational settings due to lack of funding and/or budget cuts. Research proves that music education builds self-esteem, enhances critical thinking, increases coordination, builds intellectual curiosity, and increases memorization skills. These keyboards will be used in an after-school club setting to teach students how to read music and learn the foundational skills of playing piano. I will be able to put the gift of music into the hands and hearts of 5-7 students initially, with the hopes of adding more students as the years progress.
