Scientific calculators will allow students to rapidly perform basic arithmetic functions so that they can spend more time exploring patterns and big ideas. If a student has to perform a time consuming algorithm they will lose their train of thought and their focus will not be on understanding an abstract idea but rather on performing rote procedures. Normally, I have a class set of calculators that are used by all of my students across 6 periods. Your donation will ensure that they do not have to share a device with other students, and will be able to use the calculator at home as well as at school.
