My students are going to use these novels throughout not just distance learning but as well when we go back into the classroom. These will benefit my teaching because it will bring diversity into the classroom. Without the diversity, I would not be able to fight the discrimination that goes around the world but as well in our community. Students will fighting against racism in not just in their classrooms, but in their daily lives. Students need to see the social inequalities and injustices that are out there in the world. With these novels, social justice will be seen and talked about. Imagery of the students themselves will be shown. I want my students to grow in a safe, school environment. Representation and social equality in my classroom will be my top priority for these students. Due to the lack of representation in many novels, it is time for a change in the novels that we are reading. Students will finally get to relate their problems to a character in a novel rather than trying to find something out in the world that relates to them. The students can see their relation in their own classroom. Anything will help my students and I. Thank you!
