Our school community has been one of the hardest-hit areas of NYC during this pandemic. Many parents have been out of work and are only just beginning to recover financially, while others suffered due to this terrible illness. Due to this this huge economic impact on the families of my students, I would love for them to walk in on the first day with all their supplies ready and waiting for them at their desks. Before the Coronavirus wreaked havoc on our world, sharing was encouraged. Students shared supplies with their neighbors, now they cannot share these supplies. I want to provide each child with the materials they need to be successful without feeling ashamed they could not purchase all of the supplies. Sadly, even these simple items will be out of reach for families due to the loss of wages from the shutdown.
