Making art helps students relieve their anxiety and stress about going back to school during this pandemic. Creating with crayons and color pencils helps to sooth their fears, and allows them to express themselves non-verbally. Art is therapy. Whether they choose distance learning or in person, art supplies are not a priority for many of my families. The students love creating drawings of people, landscapes and their favorite super heroes. It starts many in-depth conversations that enable them to express their feelings and help get them through each day. They love seeing their projects displayed in the hallways, or in each classroom. It puts a smile on their face, and many others, as well as brightening the school. It is amazing, some of the artwork the children can create using only colored pencils or crayons. I would like to share them with you!
