I am a First Grade Special Education Teacher at Ho'okele Elementary School in Kapolei, Hawaiʻi. My role involves providing specialized instruction and support to first-grade students with diverse learning needs, focusing on foundational skills in literacy and math while building critical social-emotional, behavioral, and self-advocacy skills to foster independence and success. Our school is guided by the CARES vision and mission: Collaboration among students, staff, and families; a focus on high Achievement; promoting Respect for all; teaching and modeling Empathy to build a caring community; and empowering students toward Self-Direction in their learning and behavior. I work collaboratively with my colleagues and families to ensure every student has equitable access to the curriculum within an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
