This will be my 10th year teaching first graders. In first grade, students are expected to write complete sentences by the end of the school year. Throughout my teaching experience I've noticed that writing can be very frustrating for these young learners due to a lack of motivation. I want to provide a fun and engaging writing center that will allow their creativity to flourish. My writing center will allow for up to 5 students to collaborate ideas for writing. It will provide plenty of items that will spark their creativity such as themed stickers, art stencils, stamps, journals, gel crayons, gel pens, and a fantastic storage cart to house all these items. I believe this writing center will help motivate my young learners and hopefully minimize their fear of writing.
