First of all, we are currently looking for ways to make our schools and classrooms safe during this pandemic. One way to do this is to provide materials to each student so that they won't need to share and risk spreading COVID-19 germs through cross contact. The last thing I want is to see any of my babies become sick. Since my first graders will be doing a lot of art work and coloring in class, I felt that providing each student with his or her own pack of crayons would allow them to be creative without having to worry about borrowing or sharing crayons. This is the same rationale for the Play-Doh, which we use both as a learning tool and as a recess item. The books would also be a great addition for my classroom library since we use these during small group reading sessions and when reading to entire class. The titles I selected were ones that needed replacing due to wear and tear or ones that would probably be new to most of my students.
