At one time the chairs were adjustable, but over time they have lost that capability. It is rather difficult to work with computer programs/applications if you are slumped over trying to navigate with a mouse. Typing on a computer with precision is impossible if you are unable to see your image at straight on (eye level). New chairs in the lab would enable the students to better master the skill set needed to pursue a career in the digital media field. In my class, it is crucial to keep technology and software as current as possible, but if the non-essential to learning equipment in the classroom is not evolving with the technology/software, students will not be comfortable nor able to fully grasp what is being taught. Students will use these chairs instead of the traditional plastic student chairs. I believe students will feel more confident in themselves and have better behavior simply by providing them with a professional-style chair. These chairs are one simple step toward creating productive members of the workforce. An ergonomic chair is quite different from a traditional chair. It is specifically designed to provide complete rest to the main structures of your body that are prone to get stressed while working. Ergonomic chairs support your posture, more comfortable, reduces risk of neck problems, reduces back pain, reduces pressure on your hips, and makes working easier.
