2020 has been an interesting and difficult year for many families. Due to the pandemic families have lost wages and have had to reallocate spending. The start of a new year for students is an exciting time full of new clothes and school supplies. For some students this year is going to be very different. There will be no new clothes or school supplies. This project will allow every student to have a new folder, paper and pencil. Whether we start at home (highly likely) or when we return to school all students will be on the same playing field in my class because they will have the same supplies. All students will be ready to organize their work and begin the learning. The other aspect of returning to school this year is fear about the pandemic. If I can offer students a mask, if they forget theirs, or some hand sanitizer then their fears might be eased. I want my students to feel safe in my classroom environment and focused on their science lessons as opposed to worrying about getting sick.
