The experience of reading a published book that reflects and celebrates the reader's culture is such a rare and special experience for my students. The themes of these books and the focus on cultural vocabulary provide rich opportunities for learning, identity exploration and reflection, leading to overall increased literacy. My students would be able to read these books along with me as their teacher on-line as we begin the year virtually, and also share these stories in person with their families and younger siblings. Purchasing these books also supports the Hmong artist and author who created this wonderful resource.
