The ELA curriculum our school would like to purchase requires novels and ebooks to supplement the instruction that teachers will provide. The books through the curriculum company are very expensive. The students will be able to check out these high-quality texts to take home and use during distance learning, and then will be able to complete their assignments tied to the texts on Google Classroom. The new curriculum we are trying to purchase will tie ELA into Social Studies and Science concepts to build our students' prior knowledge and build real-world connections. Standardized tests contain passages on the founding documents of the United States, on animal ecology, and on space, and this curriculum seamlessly provides rigorous resources to teachers in order to build students' vocabulary. The texts will be primary and secondary resources that students will have to analyze, and therefore, understand on a deeper level.
