I am a first-year special education teacher. For the students with learning disabilities I will be working with, learning can be a challenge. They need additional resources and supports in order to be successful in school. As a first-year teacher, I need additional resources to help my students to be as successful as they can be. With the manipulatives in my project, I know that I will be able to best help my students to learn by providing the hands-on resources that will help them to better understand the mathematical content and achieve their goals. The visual timers can be used to help the students in transitions and allow them to time themselves when practicing fluency. The magnet charts would be a teaching resource for me that would allow me to help my students to organize their thoughts and practice different comprehension skills with some added support. These resources will be able to be used for years to come as they can easily be used over and over again. They would be a great benefit to my students and to me. I want to be able to help my students as best as I can, and the resources in this project would allow me to do that.
