COVID-19 has been hard for every student but the students with disabilities have seen difficulties like never before. Each student in my classroom needs a workbook and reader in order to participate fully in the SPIRE reading program. This program is geared specifically toward students with disabilities to help them become better readers. I have seen growth this year because we have been able to consistently use this reading resource every day despite the effects of COVID-19. They use the workbooks and readers to use a multi-sensory approach to learning how to read. This part of the process is so important for students with disabilities as their ability to make connections can be difficult. Applying a multi-sensory approach has been proven to be the most effective way for students to learn and make those connections. By donating to our project, you will not only help my students access the reading program but you will ultimately help them grow in their confidence and ability as a reader. Please help me give each student their own workbook and reader to better help them make connections in phonics which will help their overall ability to be able to read. Let's help these young learners master the ability to read and overcome the struggles that they have faced in being able to make meaningful growth due to COVID-19!
