My students, with these additional novels, (books cannot be shared among students at this time) will be able to choose the novel that has piqued their interest. Each novel presents a story with a common theme of courage. The stories include obstacles/challenges from many walks of life that model how sometimes life decisions are not easy. Students will participate in small group discussions to recognize theme, conflict, and resolutions. These types of conferences will be safe and possible with the presence of sneeze guards at a designated table in the classroom. Students learn so much from their peers. For their final project, students will be challenged to present what they discovered. Their final presentations also involve choice which allows them to tap into their own sense of creativity.
