Having finished the school year from a distance last spring, I noticed that many of my students did not have a quiet place at home where they could access Zoom sessions or complete assigned work. With so much background noise, it was exceedingly difficult for those students to stay engaged with lessons or participate in class discussions effectively. To make matters worse, my lessons were severely lacking in visual aids; without many of the resources in my classroom, I had to rely more heavily on verbal explanations to teach my lessons. As we begin this school year, remotely once again, I am hoping to improve upon my students' engagement on two fronts. With individual headsets at home, my students will be less distracted by background noise and better able to interact with our class. The headphones will deliver audio directly to my students' ears while their attached microphones will allow each child to be understood more clearly. On my end, the iPad and stylus will allow me to create more dynamic lessons by acting as a virtual whiteboard. I will be able to model mathematical strategies, display visual aids, and make annotations in real time, among other advantages. By donating to this project, you will be helping my students stay engaged through both audio and visual means.
