I would like to build a selection of books available to students in our classroom library to represent the diverse population at our school. I will read on the virtual platform using these books. This will help students to be more culturally aware. This project will provide my students with books that highlight characters that are from diverse ethnic backgrounds and diverse communities facing challenges. I want to provide my student readers multiple access points to find themselves in the books which will be available when they return to school. These books are windows for them to see what it is like to be from a different background. My hope is that this project will facilitate information and help students to be more empathetic towards those in our community and continue student interest in reading.
