I teach science and engineering skills to students in kindergarten to fifth grade. My younger students really need some simple and interesting STEM tools that are easy to manipulate as they work though science and engineering concepts that are in the NGSS standards. My science lab has complex and fragile equipment that I hesitate to give to the little ones. These materials will allow them to be more involved and active as they learn about science. I can't wait to watch the younger students attempting to construct buildings, bridges, towers and more! I know they are up to the challenge of creating and inventing tools to do a job or structures that fulfill a purpose. These STEM tools will definitely benefit their learning and help them increase their excitement of science and engineering. An additional benefit is the same tools will also be greatly appreciated by the older students. These tools could potentially be used by nearly eight hundred students in the school. Everyday I hear students walking into science excited to see what experiment or activity is planned for the day. The utterings I hear of "I love science!" are due to having them actively engaged and exploring the wonderful world we live in.
