School is reopening with a hybrid model for the school year 20-21. There are many mixed emotions so my goal is to put an air purifier in my classroom so that I can provide them with the healthiest environment possible and show the parents that I care about each and every child. The other items on my wish list will address the social emotional needs of my students by educating them on social distancing while maintaining an uplifting atmosphere with a sense of hope. The stuffed animals can serve two purposes. One, they will be reading buddies to help foster focus as well as a love of reading. Second, since I cannot share the animals I already have in the classroom, giving each student the opportunity to have their own mini animal, can bring comfort needed when feeling anxious about learning new material in a very unusual environment.
By donating to our project, you will be helping students to understand and adjust to a "new normal" while maintaining focus and achieving academic excellence. I am also including supplies such as math wrap ups and highlighters that will be used by individuals to help create engaging lessons since collaborative work is not possible at this time.
I appreciate your consideration as we enter the new school year and into uncharted waters. These are critical times during the development of these 7-8 year olds who are not only learning to read but also preparing for reading to learn in 3rd grade. I feel it imperative to focus on their social emotional needs this year. Your investment in my children now will yield success in their future.
