My students will be currently in the classroom two days a week to cut the amount of students in contact with each other in half. And in my classroom we use a discussion based model where we are answering aloud often; however, I don't force my students to talk especially with the heavy population of English Language Learners. They know the answers, but they might not have the confidence to speak them. White boards and dry erase markers would allow them to share their opinion in a manner that I could see. For example, all students could hold up where they think a comma should go in a sentence. With one quick glance around the room, I could provide encouragement and assistance to everyone without forcing anyone outside of their comfort zone.
I am excited to assure them of their ability to succeed within my four walls and at home. I would use the teachers pay teachers gift card to outsource ideas for distance learning. For instance, if I need ideas for how to do a research project from home, TPT has many options. As a second year teacher, I am not too proud to admit that I need ideas, templates, and assignments from other knowledgeable educators. This is new to all of us, but luckily as teachers we are willing to share our ideas for the triumph of all!
With your help, I know that we can get through this convoluted school year no matter what happens and no matter from where we learn.
