This upcoming school year is going to present all kinds of new challenges for students and teachers. Due to the new COVID-19 guidelines, my students will no longer be able to do centers during reader's workshop and math workshop. Instead of rotating through centers by moving to different tables with their peers, each child will need to stay in their own space. Movement and seating choices throughout the day help children focus on their work and stay motivated! Sitting in the same chair all day for a kindergartener is not developmentally appropriate. Young students benefit from being able to learn in different areas of the classroom. Lap desks and clipboards will give my kindergarteners the opportunity to work in different parts of our classroom in a safe, socially distanced manner.
