I requested multicultural books so that children in my class can become familiar with diversity and culture from all over the world. Multicultural activities and resources are extremely important to have in the classroom as they allow children to explore how cultures and people around the world live, eat, dress, etc. This allows them to recognize similarities and differences amongst themselves and other people from different countries and cultures. As this upcoming school year will be both in person and most likely remote, I decided to find books on outside learning and play. These will be important resources and help me implement learning outside while the children and I keep a safe distance from each other. They can explore their senses and use scientific language with teacher and peers. This pandemic has helped me see the beauty in nature and I want my students to recognize the importance of natural items.
