I teach special education in a resource room setting, with students in grades 1-5, at a large elementary school in South Carolina. All of my students struggle with learning, remembering, and generalizing basic concepts and skills. Therefore, I need to be creative in finding and using supplemental materials (in addition to curriculum materials that are provided by our school district) which are engaging and fun for them! The students in my class are fully capable of learning, they just learn differently! Often they need more time, repetition of skills, and engaging hands-on materials in order to understand a skill and then to be able to remember and apply the skill. They are positive, hard-working, enthusiastic, and curious! Our classroom catchphrases are: "We Love Learning!" and "Today is a Good Day for a Good Day". Teachers Pay Teachers has a variety of excellent materials, which is needed for the diverse ages and learning needs of my students. It is my favorite site for purchasing instructional resources that are created by teachers, for teachers.
