Strong phonological awareness skills are a critical foundation in becoming proficient readers. Students will use letter tiles at home during virtual learning to analyze the structure of words. Teachers will direct lessons that allow the students to build an understanding of how to blend sounds into words. Through the manipulation of letter tiles, my students will learn common patterns found in words, increasing the number of words that they can read. They will discover how letters are blended together to create words. Then, they will learn how to break words into sounds to become beginning writers. Reading is a life skill! The whisper phones will create a magical experience for my students. The phones amplify sounds as the student is working on reading skills. My students receive auditory feedback which promotes phonemic awareness and the ability to distinguish speech sounds. The phones make reading interactive thus increasing focus and attention. Students LOVE hearing themselves!
