Do you remember getting hooked on a series of books as a child? Think of the anticipation and excitement you felt waiting for and then finally reading the next book in your favorite series. My students share that excitement and joy of waiting for and then finally devouring the newest books in their favorite series. My students are book-loving, avid and enthusiastic readers who are craving to discover the newest adventures in their favorite book series. These books will enhance the literacy focused classroom I strive to create. My classroom library is a place where my students can disappear into a world of reading. Every book placed in my library is treated with love, care, respect, and a gratitude for the opportunity to read. Students will be able to choose books appropriate to their reading level, which will help them continue to enjoy independent reading time. With these new books, my students will feel empowered to tell their stories. They will be able to choose from a variety of fiction and non-fiction books, allowing them to read independently at their own reading level. Students will also be able to choose books they're interested in. The best way to increase reading ability is to read more, and read topics you love. These books will continue to help my students develop a strong interest in independent reading, and the love of reading.
